Asherah Speaks To Me Poem by Diana Thoresen

Asherah Speaks To Me

A periwinkle love root talisman is bristling with
Red pepper battle orisons, black pepper war songs
Asherah's wormwood words and valerian sorceries
Rise with Sirius and its blinding vervain rays

This waxing moon, a hollowed out nutmeg,
Takes me to the old Ugarit shrines as my fingers
Delight in the softness of your paperbark veils
My palm trees are your pillared halls, the Akkadian

Clay of my moon blood whispers like brass
Macro-galactic or fairy world micro-quantum
The starry wisdom of nettles and jasmine is inscribed
In every drop of a marauding monsoon rain at night

Asherah Speaks To Me
