At The Stake Poem by Daniel Brown

At The Stake

Maybe this is karma
Come back in return,
For the hostages held
In the prison that fell,
While you watched the world burn

Someone to hold me...
Pearls in a clutch...
Grasping for holds
In the places that fold,
Till I'm hot to the ivory touch.

Set me on fire,
Put me to shame...
Up on the pyre
To the sounds of the choir
That I built in my name
