Au Revoir 2 Poem by Mary Champion

Au Revoir 2

I will never see you again -
not wearing this body
or using this name.
But in another time and place,
with a new alias and a different face,
might our paths cross - and if they do
will you know it's me?
Will I know it's you.

Will I ever see you again?
Will the memories we have shared
have been in vain?
In some long distant time and place,
will we be aware of some long lingered trace-
some half forgotten, fading thread?
dismissed from our thoughts
déjà vu - unsaid.

Or, when I meet you once again,
not wearing this body,
or using this name,
will you look into my eyes and see
the soul of the someone that is eternally me?
And will your smile draw back the screen
revealing again
the things that have been.
