Avebury Stone Circle Poem by Mary Champion

We raise these mighty stones to thee;
Great Mother of the Earth;
erected here to honour you
and signify your worth.

No single man, who stands alone,
can every satisfy
your hunger for the love we feel,
Great Mother of the Sky.

Together, side by side they stand,
that two realms shall be one -
the union of Earth and Sky
completed by the Son.

Upon this henge we stood them tall,
to marry Earth and Sky,
and by our manful acts ensure
that none shall ever die.
