Awakening Dreams Poem by Bethany Taite

Awakening Dreams

In the quiet dawn of a heart once chained,
Where shadows danced in the echoes of pain,
I whispered wishes to the silken sky,
A tapestry woven of hopes that would fly.

Years dripped like rain through a sieve of despair,
Each droplet a dream that life seemed to snare,
Yet in the stillness, a flicker remained,
A flame in the darkness that never contained.

With each weary step on the road paved with strife,
I gathered the pieces, coaxed joy into life,
Brick by brick, through the struggles and noise,
I carved out my freedom, I claimed my own voice.

Now fields stretch before me, lush, wild, and free,
Where once lay the thorns of a life meant to be,
The sun spills its gold on horizons anew,
In the whispers of wind, I hear dreams come true.

The laughter of loved ones in warm, tender embrace,
The vibrant dance of passion, the sweet, heady grace,
In the reflection of stars on my grateful heart's seam,
I bask in the glow of this long-wished-for dream.

So here's to the journey that cradled my soul,
To the battles fought fiercely, to the scars that made whole,
For all that I've yearned, for the life I adore,
I stand in the moment, content to be more.
