Baby (Inspired By Os Mutantes) Poem by Kevin Patrick

Baby (Inspired By Os Mutantes)

This scene;
depicts a penthouse in Belnerio
With heated swimming pools
and marble balconies
Overlooking the carnival
Where we can consummate
our discussions sipping
decaf Cappuccinos
While your skin:
was built for my heart to demean
as you whisper the secret of life
you say 'Baby, I’m dreaming of you'

In this scene;
A waiter tells us tomorrow is thirsty
My Lungs are frittered like Don Quixote
While the sounds of the city
Tare at the animal consciousness
In the runaway sin of teenage afterglow
While your soft veneer
Is a calico dress of sapphire
You smile all day and then I say
“Baby I’ve sold my blues now that I’m with you

While this scene;
'We see the building are getting late
as we sail around in taxi cabs
jaunting down the boulevard’s
watching the forever lonely
and the desperate
cling to the pattern of routines
as vagabonds sing pointless songs
You cling to me and whisper
you cannot save life if you don’t live life
But then I say I would trade it away
Just To live inside your moonlight eyes

And in this scene;
We share a glass of white wine
Toasting our Interaction with the divine
as were mused into a ceaseless siesta
of Sumba marches and
confetti cloudburst that pours
from torrent of Trumpeters
and Baterias that sing in a ring
of multi-coloured epiphanies
which chant in unison
this is life, this is life, long live life'
while hear in a moment forever stands still

But in this scene;
You have only been pure fantasy

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Listening to Brazilian pop music was the kicker for this one, wanted to write an English translation instead I wrote something different from what was captured in the song. Listen to Os mMtantes
