Back To The Village Poem by Anthony Nwosu

Back To The Village

God planted this
Every flower married a leaf
Fruits dangled in their mist
Like that between legs
Wait
Look up to my title
Now lets continue

Ifeyinwa was with me
At Night
We did not sleep in the same room
I wish we did
In the early hours of the morning
I rushed to see
How her face looked after sleep
I was shocked to see
Her face ready
As if I could take her to a party
It is impossible. Maybe
Angels at midnight put make up
On her face
Look at her sweet curves
My eyes were employed
To accentuate her nipples
Singing affectionate music
The music of coitus

You should have been in Heaven
Not with me in the village
Why did you follow me?
If you fell ill
I would hate myself
Then you told me not to worry
But take you sight seeing
We came to the road
Very strange
No taxi. No motorcycle
No free lift. This Sunday afternoon
Oh! We are in the village
How firm my villagers stick
To their houses
To eat their Sunday rice
We walked further with hope
You doubted and I agreed
Unfortunately
Your sling back cut badly
Do we go back or wait?
We could walk no further
So we stopped
Oh! We are doomed
So confused

Good! You had an idea
To climb my back
I liked the idea
The picture of your breasts crushing
My back
And the golden opportunity
To hold your leg while on my back
I rejoiced
I took many weighty steps
Too careful not to fall
If I fell to the ground
You would mock my manhood
No!
Would not let that happen
So I continued
I heard an engine noise
A vague sight ahead
What is this?
A motorcycle
We were indeed glad
We ate bean cake
Bought roasted meat
You took a little alcohol
And we laughed home
Hoping to take more
