Banking Poem by Clay Kohut

Banking

I'm bracing for the fall out
of the fight
the deadly radiation
what a sight
This cloud is ever hanging,
it won't rise
the flash is still embedded
in my eyes

I'm banking on the future,
of our life,
I'm ripping out the sutures,
with my knife,
It's sharpened on both edges,
just like you,
no one holds the answer,
but I do,

I'm sinking in the quicksand
no escape
If you jump I'll catch it
all on tape
I'd save you from the fire
but I'd die
I'm much more important
I won't lie.
