Battle Signal Poem by Nona Vaught

Battle Signal

War of aggression, entering
Imminent engagement, waiting
Proclamations have been exchanged
Listen for the battle signal.
Commander, with wind-blown garments
Arouse your men courageously
With voice resounding loudness
'Rely on God's assistance.
Arouse from concealment, the foe
Subdue, overcome in battle
With deeds which are expected of men,
Good success, glorious expectation.'
The vigorous, whose blood pounded,
Faced warriors confused with noise
From the very midst of the calamities
Saw the absolute circumstance.
Victory awaited the cunning, the daring,
Tremble at his strength and virtue,
Honorable, noble, worthy,
Faithful to the Battle Signal.
