Be Bop & Soda Pop Poem by Mary Champion

Be Bop & Soda Pop

Be-bop and soda-pop,
can you catch the mood?
Faded jeans
and teenage dreams
that tended to include
orange-blossom, ever-after style
and love to keep you happy all the while.

Sunny beach,
outa reach
of Mom and Dad and school.
Cans of coke,
always broke
fellas acting cool.
Girls all looking out for Mr Right.
Fall out today, but make it up tonight.

What happened to those dreams of yesterday?
Was losing them the price I had to pay,
for growing up and growing wiser too
and finding out that Mr Right was you?

But Mr Right, you always did me wrong.
You showed me to the place where I belong,
with love that tasted sweet, but didn't last
and that's why I'm still dreaming of the past.

Be-bop and soda-pop,
can you catch the mood?
Faded jeans
and teenage dreams
that tended to include
orange-blossom, ever-after style
and love to keep you happy all the while.

Sunny beach,
outa reach
of Mom and Dad and school.
Cans of coke,
always broke
fellas acting cool.
Girls all looking out for Mr Right.
Fall out today, but make it up tonight.
