Be Human Poem by Josh Alfred

Be Human

Put not on the raiment of religious tradition
Walk naked in your identity as only human.
All other identities are constructs,
Devised by primitive men, for primitive men.
Live adjusted to modernity,
A human being, being human.

Find:
Truth in science;
Purpose as a function of economic action;
Reason as cause and effect;
Meaning as in the dictionary;
Answers through public inquiry.

Though one cannot resign from all illusions
The wonderful life has to offer,
Be parsimonious, and scrutinize.
