Beautiful Butterfly Poem by Nichole Herrin

Beautiful Butterfly

The wall closing around me, the darkness surrounding.
Darker than the darkest black of night ever seen.
Pain, cold, numb, empty, lonely, broken
are all the words I could use at best to describe
these feelings.
Crying and crying, these tears won't leave me.
They've been here for what seems like centuries
others drifting away, sick of my pain.
Scared it will rub off onto them,
and that then they too
will be in this lonely suffering.
If only they truly knew
what it felt like, to be this
way and want to be like
the beautiful butterfly.
Floating on the breeze
without a care in the world.
