Been and gone Poem by Monika Rinck

Been and gone

Rating: 3.5

been and gone - but it had been summer
the sun all binary now
had left where it had left.
from sunday on becoming cooler but
not yet - my god what light
that had elongated us and set
façades at right angles, tough shadows
the geometrical - summed up this summer
was a parcel strung up tight - leave
the plump roses, Dr Benn here
will deal with them -
