Begrudging Cardinals Poem by B. V. Dahlen

Begrudging Cardinals

Rating: 5.0

Outside my window flashing brave
You shoot and dart from limb to sky
And carry with you all my dreams
Defying me to follow there.
I, jealous, watch your lofty romp,
And notice every flamed design
You paint against the azure sky.
I curse the earth that binds me here.
Oh scarlet beacon of the air
Why do you taunt me every day
Displaying crimson feathers wild
That illustrate my earthbound state?
