Behind Everyone's Smile Poem by McCarthy Ilolo

Behind Everyone's Smile

A smile is all it takes to say I'm happy
Crowded and judged by a lie made snappy
I smile each day, the brightest you might see
Staying behind my mask and no one sees
A smile that holds a lie no one seeks

I'm fine, but do ask again, I'm okay
A smile is all it takes
I wear it long enough
This veil that hides my pain
And if it's not enough, I'd smile and smile again

This mask hides emotions at ease
Smile, smile, smile
Is that all it is?

A perfect armor I put on shielding me from the world.
But what happens when the mask is gone?
Do I fail, fall or triumph
Or does my loss take away my hint of joy.
