The story behind the rope is no ordinary one
It includes anguish and suffering too
Which no one truly understands
And no one can truly explain

Behind the rope there is limited defiance
Defiance against heartbreak
Defiance against life's struggles
A defiant spirit that is short lived

Behind the rope is limited endurance
Enduring negative words
Enduring endless attacks on a self esteem
Endurance that is short lived

Behind the rope is endless trying
Trying to fight through life
Trying to fight through hindrances
They tell you 'keep trying, don't give up'
Well behind the rope is a lot of trying, but trying can't last long now
Can it?

Behind the rope is a broken spirit
A spirit desperate for attention
A spirit that no one cared for
A spirit that is used to making everyone happy except the spirit itself
A spirit that has taken refuge in the darkness
A tired spirit

But now all we see is a rope
A rope that was used to take a life
A rope that is being judged by many
There is a story behind the rope
A story not to be told to the fainthearted
A story neglected by politicians

The rope that is a destination for some
The rope with the story behind it.
