I look at Old Master drawings
So mathematical, so precise
So defined, so carefully delineated
Creating a visual vocabulary
For a world that never before existed
A new way of thinking
A new way of seeing
A new perspective
The vanishing point
Sometimes on the paper
Sometimes off the paper
In the imagined space
Beyond the edge of the artist's world
I always wonder what lies beyond
Beyond the vanishing point
Are there other worlds to be drawn
Other worlds to be imagined
Requiring only another perspective to be seen
The vanishing point—
An opening to an unknown reality
Or a period at the end of the sentence
That describes the universe.
Perhaps it is a black hole into non-existence
And there is nothing—not even despair
Beyond the vanishing point
