Black Veil Poem by Caliban Hicks

Black Veil

Thoughts
What are they
Are they the ramblings of the subconscious
Or are they the hidden ideas you try to avoid

Go beyond and look back
You'll see as I
Through the black
Piercing with a cry
The thoughts your conscious mind could not bear
Coming to the light
To rip and to tear
Why
Why do they come
Why do I go dumb
Unable to retain
The fleeting reality where I remain
Only to suffer more than the grave
And these attacks I cannot stave
Off from my heart
That quickly falls apart
As I remember

Remember the thoughts from beyond
Look back at the ones you thought gone
For they cannot move on
Trapped in the whirl we call our minds
But this is just a false charade
A sick joke from the black parade
That thunders down the street of main
And freezing ice into the veins
That continue this wretched existence
When you only wish for assistance
In moving through the beyond
And being able to look back
Straight from hell this comes
I tell you yes
I am long gone
My mind lost in the beyond

Thoughts
What are they
Are they the ramblings of the subconscious
Or are they the hidden ideas you try to avoid
No not either
They are the veil
To keep you from falling
Straight to my hell
