Blindmen Poem by Eric Paeplow

Blindmen

We spend our days and travel the world
Like blind men, hoping to find beauty and meaning
Groping our way, in a desperate search
To find what we already possess within us
Faith comes in moments, peace only from within
The years teach more than the days will ever know

Blind are we to the world before our eyes
Never seeing what beauty lies
Here in the world that surrounds us
With eyes open wide, the world flashing by
Never knowing the depth of the scene before our eyes

If the stars should only appear, but one night each year
Oh how would we marvel and stare
Yet still we wonder, never knowing that beauty and wisdom
Belong only to eyes that will see them

All the worlds sorrows and pain, so easily washed away
Open your eyes, be not blind to the world around you
Be at peace and pass into the immortal
As gently as you slip to dream
For beauty and wonder opens the mind and quiets the soul

Legends, dreams and the doubt that fills you mind
Give way as the day breaks, the sun shining through
Open your eyes and greet the breaking dawn
Free your soul from idle days

One day you will wake up and see
The world around is calling
We are not born blind me
We merely forget how to see
