Blue Lights Poem by Lors Dilouley

Blue Lights

I'll be leaving those familiar four eyes
the sparsely carpeted chin that
jaws peculiar sayings
to draw a half circle on my face.

I will utter farewells to
that passionate heart
those spindly arms that
shudder shoulders from hugs -
engaging mine to throw around them.

The straying heart can fly
when I am out of reach.
I fear its abode, for it may kill her
while i'm gone, so I will pray.

And they weep wet sighs
when I turn to leave the tarmac
the blue lights fade as
their proud faces engrave my mind.

But you. But you grow.
As I depart, you establish a bulwark heart.
For, with you and only for awhile -
my soul is pinned to your skin.

you are a caretaker of part of my being
while I venture past all I've known.
Elastic tries to keep us tied
but you have set me free.

love, you force me
to prove my vigilance to Him.
so commences my life - yet
a testament of my death.
