A blue lilac lie
he once whispered to me -
while we lay beneath the lilac tree -
swore love for all eternity
as we watched the bluebirds fly
above us in the clear blue sky.
A blue lilac lie
was easy to believe
when I was so sure he would not leave.
I was too easy to deceive.
I never dreamed he would fly
away from me through clear blue sky.
A blue-lilac drive
leads past the place where we
once lay shaded by the lilac tree,
lost in our lilac ecstasy.
Now I walk it wrapped in grief
ensnared in my blue lilac life.
