Blur Bright Light Poem by Clare Murgor

Blur Bright Light

I was on the left when they were right
Going south when they all we're east
Holding the tail when they held each other's hands
Struggling to crawl when they all we're running
And one thing they always said
Let the light inside of you burn
Let the it always light

But was there ever one
For I had only a match with me
Just one that would die when I light it
Just like all the others that I tried
For the wind would blow it off
Or I would breathe hard to turn it off
Because even in my strengths I had a weakness
The fear of always putting it off

But after the crawl I began to walk
I had my match still when I held my first candle
I held back the hands that held mine
My candle went off when I lit it
But the atmosphere danced of joy
The light smoke filled with dreams
And I could see beauty rising
The beauty of hope
And the beauty of believing
