Bob's Wedding Poem by John Stetson

Bob's Wedding

Bob's Wedding 12/31/90

Marriage is a state of mind,
Reason clear, intent in kind.
And celebrants thereto inclined
Should mind the state they're in.

Infatuation, true, is blind.
But love's a blue moon treasure find.
And this the fate the Fate's designed
For those whose life should now begin.

But idle precious metal rusts
If left unburnished, gathering dust.
Don't lay up treasures in blind trusts,
Nor hide from honest sight.

In polishing it's true one must
Rely on friction, breaking crust.
But shine that's worthy of Man's lust
Keeps bright this wedding night.
