Breakfast With A Ghost Hero Poem by Harold R Hunt Sr

Breakfast With A Ghost Hero

Breakfast with a ghost
Early on morning traveling down I-77
I saw a young soldier in uniform.
I stop to choose pick him up.
We talked a awhile he spoke of the war.
How he lost so many friends.
We parked in the dinner. I ran in to get something to eat.
When I return to the truck. He finished his story.
He said that he loved America. And the freedom it stands for.
How he fought for each American.
He then told me this was his exit.
So I stopped. He said thanks to you my friend>
I said no thanks you my hero.
For fighting for me.
I drove off and I looked back and he was gone.
I thought I just had breakfast with a hero ghost
