Breaking The Silence Poem by Mary Champion

Breaking The Silence

(For the Poetry Group)

Right now, we seem to be a one-man-band -
every other muse has gone on strike -
as is the fashion now, throughout the land.
But muses need to get back on their bike.

No time for hibernation from the chill -
the snow and ice have gone - no more excuse -
there are empty minds they need to fill.
They have a message - time to set it loose.

For silent poets are no use to man -
ours it is to thunder ‘gainst the faults,
rage against injustice - rather than
making silent protest in our thoughts.

So come you idle muses join the fight
to free our world from poverty and fear.
Don't loiter in the shadows - face the light
and speak your words so ev'ryone can hear.
