Breathe Poem by Malory Joyce

Breathe

You are my sunrise, the waking of a new day
as heaven was awakened to my eyes
and your every touch had more to say,
you are my guardian angel in decease.
I love when you say “after being a star in my
night sky, you are my sunrise of a new awakening.'
Our adventure soon became conventional
I become more dependent upon you
as if I didn’t know how to breathe on my own at all
forgotten; as to forget I must do.

I am my own sunrise
the waking of a new day
as it gives me the strength
to overthrow my yesterday.
I have a chance
to start it all over
and finally change
to where I can breathe myself.

Heaven was only an imitation
it fooled my mind
as love was only my imagination
but I fear to put such feeling behind.
I must, I should,
make you disappear, I could.

You are my sunset
the very last of my day
as your fading away
to where I can finally change.

I am not hesitant for I am confiding
and using my own voice this time, my darling.
I slowly slip back to reality.

If I stay with a suffocating love
I would soon forget how to live.

I am going to breathe on my own.
