By My Silence Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

By My Silence

please don't assume by my silence
that i've got nothing to say.
it's just that i see now it isn't temporary,
i've always been this way.

it's okay,
i'll find a way to accept it.
some people are never to be loved right.
it's just the way it is.

what never was
will never be.
i don't know what to do with a solid hope,
because it's something i've never seen.

all these memories i have
they are just pictures and stories...
searching there won't show any hope...
nor unearth anything in which to believe.

so my voice is failing me,
no more screaming in crowds;
as i make peace with the solitude
even my fire dies out.
assume by my silence
that there aren't words for what i fear now.
