Called To Serve (1) Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Called To Serve (1)

The Lord may set yet sheep apart
May send them hand in hand
May place a message in our heart
To spread from land to land

Yet partnerships can come to fall
Harmony turns debris
As Barnabas when joined with Paul
Began to disagree –Act.15: 36-40

Through squabbling, our eyes grow blind
In discord, deafness rules
Not always is God’s work in mind
When men behave like fools

When knees to self begin to bow
When pride puts on a crown
Man’s soul can lose importance now
And faith can tumble down

Is disobedience running wild?
Has wisdom nought to tell?
Does no one think about the child?
Still on the road to hell

Does Jesus truly call to these?
Did Jesus set them free?
Or is self we aim to please?
Is Satan’s hand to see?

Let self and pride seek out the grave
Let bitterness be lost
We’re sent in Christ more souls to save
However high the cost

Who yet reject The Lord’s command?
Refuse to plant Life’s Seed?
Others He’ll choose to plough His land
Others His sheep may feed…PTO…
