Can't... Poem by Ella Goodman

Can't...

I can't even say that I can't live without you,
There's an ache deep inside, refusing to subside.
I coax my mind to let your thoughts fade,
Engaging myself to chores and muse.
The battle seems endless—
A tumultous war—to let go or hold.
And in the end,
I sit there—
Reminiscing the moments I spent with you.

I know you do not reply quick,
Lest I may fall more for all your soul.
For you know that your words get etched in my mind,
Now, I only speak to you in my thoughts,
Wishing you would come back to me,
Ask me about my day and more,
Make me smile and hold me tight.
