Carrots Bigger Than Diamonds Poem by Robert R. Railey

Carrots Bigger Than Diamonds

Carrots Bigger Than Diamonds

His dream to be a capitalist, was one of gigantic degree
The leader of industry, a captain and magnet, would surely be
His destiny

He was born to be famous, affluent and prominent, an
Entrepreneur he would be!
His thoughts were on wealth, but splintered by poverty, he's
Always been left out to sea

His significant other thought there was none greater with
Promises of diamonds galore
But would she receive her glorious gems, or just warm breezes of
Elegance and schemes?

If you'll stick with me kid, to the end, it'll be carrots bigger than
Diamonds he swore!
The poor little girl had visions of royalty, but she would first
Have to live in mediocrity

How sumptuous the feeling of waiting for morrow when all
Was promised to be
She thought that her ship had finally come in but his tide had
Been scheduled for later!

With the deal of the century, on both paper and desk, this time
It would be much greater; it's only a matter of time he bragged,
Before the whole world would know his name

But the clouds grew darker, his visions narrower, and he
Suddenly lost sight of his mores
The carrots he gave her were orange in color and she hastily
Threw him out of the door!
