Catalytic Converter Poem by Mary Champion

Catalytic Converter

You're a catalyst, Cat;
you walked into my life,
screwed the whole thing up,
caused me all of this strife
and then you walked away,
unchanged and untouched.
You're a catalyst, Cat -
how d'you change me so much?
What did I do to you?
Seems like nothing it all.
I'm in turmoil inside
but you're having a ball.
You're a catalyst, Cat,
changed my world-view around,
but you're so unperturbed
and I'm upside down.
You're a catalyst, Cat -
that's what you've been to me.
You came through it unscathed,
but you turned out to be
catastrophic in ways
I could not have conceived -
catalytic converter
of all I believed.
Just a catalyst, Cat -
always land on your paws
quite oblivious of
the reactions you cause.
