Celebration Of My Birthday With Rats - Poem by Tulsi Shrestha

Celebration Of My Birthday With Rats
Waiting alone in dark small dirty room
Expect to get calls for birthday wishes to me
From intimate circle of friends and foes
I didn't receive even a single
Birthday greetings up to midnight.
Monologue attempts to sympathize me
Who are you, Where are you?
Not worthy enough to care you
No money to feed them
Yet not occupied any political chair
To award them.
Why should they remember to wish you
Happy Birthday To you.?
Your birthday is a big deal only for you
A special day worthy for celebration.
Birthday cake sounds smiling
To notice how helpless I am.
I have bought Big size cake
Early in the morning with expectation of
Some of my loyal friends will definitely
Accompany me to celebrate.
All of sudden I noticed
A couple of fearless Rats
Running here and there in search of food.
The passion of love that
I have developed for them
Always inhibited me to trap and kill them.
A thought went up to my mind
What is wrong to celebrate my birthday
With those Rats loyal than human
Who easily forgets
Sacrifice and contribution of his fellows.
I cut cake into small pieces
And offered those Rats to enjoy.
What I noticed is brightness of their eyes
Delighted to express a sense of gratitude
For their master and Lord.
Unknown their verbal sounds
Reverberated in my both ears
Happy Birthday Our Saviour
Tell me my friends now
Didn'tI make the best usage of
My Birthday Cake..?
