Chasing Old Sol Poem by Jude Ansah

Chasing Old Sol

I follow the sun
Chasing rogue rays between the leaves
Dreading the stay beneath night's sleeves
In skins made of ruined loves.

I follow the sun
Fleeing from tempered skies
Swelling with remorse between their eyes
As every drop of rain
Carries a world of mistakes I've made.

I follow the sun
Pursuing difference in all her shapes
As clarity in the glass's glimmer
As serenity in reflections on the water.

I follow the sun
Creeping between shades of the moon
Midnight eaten by what looms
Earth's children drowned in a golden swoon.

I follow the sun
Lusting for stays in all the good I've done
Her name flowing through ashen lungs
As I watch her die on a horizon's tongue.
