Cheesed Off Poem by Mary Champion

Cheesed Off

The things that I've been through
To get back home to you,
Are more than I imagined I could take.
If I'd been told the score,
The hurt I'd have to take,
I never would have tried to climb
A mountain I can't make.

The long and winding road exudes false hope,
Deluding you that may be you can cope.
Imagining that home is only one more turn away,
Will give you strength to make it through another pointless day.
But coming round the corner, all you find…..
Another bloody corner leaves you blind.
You hope each bend you take will be your last.
But most our lives are getting nowhere fast.

The things that I've been through
To get back home to you,
Are more than I imagined I could take.
If I'd been told before
The way my heart would break,
I never would have tried to climb
This mountain I can't make.
