Choices Poem by Chris Zachariou

Choices

We were overwhelmed
by all that might have been.
Our situation seemed hopeless.

We dwelled on it for days.
We argued over it for months.
What were the choices we asked.

Every time we came across a mountain
I wanted to climb
but you wanted to walk around instead.

Every time we came near a cliff
I wanted to jump.
Each time you saved me.

You looked up
and saw my head up in the clouds,
I looked down
and saw your feet firmly on the ground.

We both panicked and wanted to run.
But we were
in love and we stayed together.
