Christmas In America Poem by Harry Biosah

Christmas In America

From the sweet, fresh aroma of sposh;
A pretentious, masquerading winter
In New York, New Jersey, the New-Hampshire white mountains,
To a simmering defiant sun in the coast of Florida and California,
Looking in, jostling to snuggle in an unyielding, theatrical
California weather

The jingle of a million bells, deafening lights, sights and sound of laughter
The captivating allure of Snowmen; of Santa clad in a regalious traditional red and white;
With a ruck-sack full of gifts

The spirit of Las Posadas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa
Ceaselessly wafting in the raveneous, palpable December luft
The sweet aroma of ginger bread, Tamale, Jambalaya, Roast Turkey, Ham and Seafood Salad
Resilient families, radianting love, affection, huddled together
Around captivating fireplaces,
Underneath stupendously decorated Christmas trees...
Methinks it's Christmas
