Circus Act Poem by Elliott Gilbert

Circus Act

I will walk the tight rope,
Tame the lion, Train the elephant,
No matter how many hoops there are
I will continue to jump through.

For the level could be raised
To unreachable heights and yet I will achieve
I will reach the new height, the new glory.
Just to earn the respect of the authorities.

For the other side of the obstacle lies happiness
The happiness is you and all your worth
I cannot place a price tag on your head
But I can say you are worth all the trouble.

Worth all the wood chopped
All the five person dates
All the judgemental stares
All the time spent proving myself.

I am not afraid to take the stand
in order to be with you
for the goal is always worth more
than the path taken to get there.

Just know in reality
Your opinion is what matters to me
Others may judge and not approve
But that will change in time.

When they see your smile,
and Feel your brightness
their minds will turn because they will know
that I am your superman.

No matter what the situation,
Whether it be a missed hurdle,
Or the feeling of dismay
I will always be there.

To carry you when you cannot walk,
To listen when you can only speak,
and hold you when you cannot speak.
For no matter the remedy I am here.

I am the medicine to your pain,
Your umbrella for the rain,
Your coat for the chill,
And your man, if you will.
