Coffee, Kafka And The Kiss Poem by Rukesh Yadav

Coffee, Kafka And The Kiss

I went to the cafe,
We used to go,
Was it?
I don't know,
For it was too dark there,
In the daylight.
I yelled,
Light on!
Nothing but giggles,
Filled the space.
Grappled by horror,
I sensed the air,
Of menace.
About to collapse,
An aroma came,
Of coffee so kafkaesque.
Stumbling and groping,
My head hit a wall,
To my delight,
I saw a girl,
Glowing with coffee and kafka,
The only thing to my sight.
I knew her,
My beloved.
In one hand the coffee,
In another, the kafka,
Absolutely absorbed.
I took a sip,
From her cup,
Kissed on her lips.
She didn't even budge.
I sat opposite her and watched,
So beautiful and sublime,
I was in horror and an awe,
At the same time.
In the dark,
The only glowing things,
She, coffee and kafka,
Too started dimming.
Something was taking over me,
She completely dimmed away,
The cup fell on the floor,
The book on the table,
I felt heavy,
My hands felt gore.
I stretched my hand,
She was gone.
I lifted the book,
Turned the bookmarked page,
With fear I shook,
I saw my image,
On The Metamorphosis,
I was swelling,
And wreathing,
With pain and parched,
I fell on the floor,
Licked the spilled coffee,
The ground under me loosened,
I got too heavy,
Metamorphed into a creature,
From the other world,
Since then, falling through,
None can see.........
