Columcille's - Columba's Prayer Poem by Michael Maxwell Steer

Columcille's - Columba's Prayer

A life of books would be my choice,
For that would make me whole -
At times to pause and bare my soul
At others praise in highest voice.

To live a hermit by the sea,
Wonder at changing earth and skies,
Writing my thoughts unforced and free,
And gather food where'er it lies.

To be at one with S/He who made me
And plumb the hidden things of life,
Bringing peace in place of strife
And hope to all who aid me.
