Coming Back Home - Poem by Leon Thomas Lee

I drifted away from his protecting arms
I drifted, i drifted a long ways from home
Then i asked myself why, why, why
I drifted so far i was not the same
Didn't feel right sharing my father's name
Oh but i'm coming to the one i love and adore
I'm coming to the peaceful shores
Countless nights i didn't get any sleep
Many days i refused to eat
No one told me it would be this way
No one told me it would be this rouch
Only God knew i had enough
Now i know that i was deceived
My mind in a world of make believe
No, i couldn't hear the music in my ear
Couldn't see the danger far and near
I drifted, i drifted far away from home
I admit i was wrong, i kept asking myself why, why, why
As the tears fell from my eyes
How could i have been so blind, playing with an idle mind
Never again will i leave home
Yes i'm coming to the peaceful shores
Coming to the one i love and adore
