Complacence Is A Stench Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Complacence Is A Stench

Our world is suffering great defeat
Her death though slow is sure
Yet if she’d sit at Jesus’ feet
She’d find her perfect cure

In Christ her children would be strong
They’d seek their Saviour’s face
Instead she sings the devil’s song
And steals away from grace

Perhaps she’ll come if Christ is heard
Through such as you and I
When in her heart we plant God’s word
Her children wouldn’t die

The devil friend must flee from sight
The world must now be free
But we must be God’s guiding light
So those yet lost can see

We need to lead unto the Lord
The blind, the sick, the lame
We need to spread the word abroad
That’s why Salvation came!

Too long we’ve sat upon the bench
Reserves who never play
Complacence is to God a stench
He hates to smell each day

We need to rise and take our stand
Till Satan’s truly lost
Till all have reached God’s promised land
And not to count the cost

Each knee must bow before God’s Son
Each tongue confess Him Lord
Each heart must sing God’s will be done
Before God’s true reward...
