Moss Height Bough
The wooded path meanders upward
The dappled sun striking the stones
The ferns gentle swaying an aid- memoir
Transported back in flashing memory bits,
To Surrey, The Punchbowl, and games played.
Fifty years stripped away in seconds
The East End kid holidaying with the school
Playing hide and seek in the ferns of yesterday.
We travel on warmed by the summer sun.
Marley full of life, wagging tail, sniffing nose.
My companions hears my story, laughs
Lives bound in love, we climbed
The view of distant mountains refreshes
Our now is full of warmth and tall green ferns.
