Craving Poem by Hannah Barham

Craving

craving you
the firm press of your warmth
against the cool of my skin
needing to have you here
beside me
to hear your voice, your breath, your heart
to feel your muscles
tauten when you wrap your arms
tighter around me
tangle the quilt around us
immerse in the sunlit warmth
of the others' loving presence
unwilling to let go or to forget
the whispered words
of love
of longing
of dread
I need you to lie
in the space between me
and the outside edge
of my single bed
I need you to wrap
a tender arm around me
pull me onto your chest
and tell me you love me
I need you
crave you

I crave you in the times we are apart
missing you becomes a constant
painful reminder of what I'm without
your presence is oxygen
and I suffocate under a pillow of loneliness
without you
