Crescit Eundo Poem by Steve Woodward

Crescit Eundo

You are my child,
And you have everything I own,
I was born of an older seed,
And have left my older home,

I have seen you cry
From scrapes and falls,
Kissed it all better no matter how small,

I have nurtured your needs
Watched you grow,
I always have the answers
I’m your parent – I know.

Time it will show,
As you fly our nest,
You will always have a home here,
A place you can rest,

Though I’m weary and old now,
Wiser but slow,
I’m not long of this world now,
But I want you to know

In the heat for a moment it will seem like a year,
These years are moments when I have you near,
So when I’m called – I will have to go,
But I can pass with a smile child,
From watching you grow.
