Crying As You Sleep - Poem by Katlynne Houston

When I lay here with you why do I feel so alone
When you're holding me close why do I feel like you let go
Why do I feel like this when you're sleeping late at night
Why do I lay here and fight the need to cry
Why do I feel like this isn't working out
Why are these thoughts filling me with doubt
Why do you piss me off with every thing you do
Why do I feel happier when I'm not with you
I know I really care and that's what's confusing me
I want to be with you but im crying as you sleep
There's nothing that can fix it that's just the way it is
Although I wish there was because I hate my life like this
We use to be so happy and would always laugh and play
But then I guess the happiness had to go away
And we both know that it's too late to try to bring it back
It's gone and we both know that this is all an act
I know that we both care and we want things to be right
But I think of all the wrong while you sleep at night
You know I'll always care but it's the little things
Like telling me you love me when you don't know what it means
It happens every night but somehow you don't see
That im lying here at night crying as you sleep
You're so deaf and blind to the way I really feel
I want to believe that your love for me is real
But how could you now know how could you now see
You pay no attention yet say you're in love with me
If it were you that felt this way I think that I would know
I would pick up on the little hints and signs you'd show
I would try to talk to you and try to make it better
Not sit there and ignore you and think it didn't matter
But you and I are different no one is the same
But some day you might hear me calling out your name
Until then I'll just continue and you will never see
All the pain and all the tears I'm crying as you sleep
