Crying For New Orleans - Poem by Miriam Messina Gutierrez

I just feel so blue,
New Orleans of my youth

and I can't contain the tears,
for the sadness that I feel,
overwhelmed by your destruction;
When the river entered like an ocean,
over your beloved land

And the lives it ended;
Many dreams suspended;
It just breaks my heart!

I am crying for you,
New Orleans of my youth;
I can't help my despair;
I don't think this is fair,
I'm so sad and blue.
