Crystal Poem by Amy Sloat

Crystal

I felt for you
While I was in my pain
You took me looking for crystal
And dried up my rain

The awakened smile cracked
Away from the crystal wall
And shone with new
Divine light

Then the shock came
The crack of the rock hammer!
My shards fell away
My heart broke a little more

I see you at play
Little Love, Looking at my shattered parts
"Perhaps the crystal was better whole"
"The parts do not equal the beauty of the sum"

And at last I see
This was never about me
And the roll you play
Only pushes me away
