Cupid Missed Poem by Anthony Levitt

Cupid Missed

I stood alone where once there was two...
My arm was empty when it should have been held by you...
They left without saying goodbye and in all my questions throughout the years I never got to find out why...

The pain that I wish to leave my soul stays buried like the past...
The more I try to forget the pain, the more it seems to last...
I never have recovered so I tried to fill the gap with another I could find who would rest their head on my lap...

So on this day every year, about the same time...
I wait for an arrow to hit my hearts desire...
Of course in all my years I have done all I can to find this one but alas it did not work, so then I stopped looking.

So here I wait not looking, not wanting, hoping for the one...
In all this happiness that is around me all I used to feel is gone...
