Dagger Poem by Lydia Thacker

Dagger

Dark eyes
gleam in the reflection
of a full spring moon
bouncing off the blade
of the dagger
you've aimed at my back.

Claims of love fall
on ears gone deaf
from all the pleading
and crying
that mouth has caused.

How can I so love
that which I despise?
