Daises Poem by Marie Byrdman

Daises

The flowering daisy, despite its beauty, is an unwelcome parasite of the lawn. It is a weed.

Valuable nourishment in the soil below that should go to the neatly kept grass instead goes to these squatters. They must be removed to maintain order.

No matter how many times they are cut, they simply grow back.

So, the daisy must be ripped from the ground by its roots and tossed away.

As new daisies appear, they too are promptly torn from the earth.

All for the sake of neatness. Anything that stands out must be removed immediately.

Because weeds have no place in a lawn no matter how beautiful they are, do they?
